Tasha – Exercise Prescription
8/2/24
Tasha was seen 08/02/24 for her initial session where by she had a recent CrCr
surgery to her right hindlimb. In walk Tasha was visibly lame in walk on her
forelimb (left) and Right hindlimb. She has increased weight bearing on her
front limbs and onto her left hindlimb.
Sit posture shows a laterally placed right hindlimb. This is currently disengaging
her muscled used for knee support and will be rectified through her exercises.
Joints have a good end feel. Some restrictions in both carpal joints in flexion.
Her left stifle has some crepitus and increased muscle bulk and tone. Her right
hindlimb has low muscle tone and low bulk. Hip mobility not assessed at this
time.
Mild spasming and trigger points along her back possibly due to spondylosis
diagnosis and bracing due to lameness.
Points Discussed
Calendar – Use a calendar to record the weather, length of walk and how well
you feel Tasha walked. Note when she becomes tired (panting, toe dragging or
slowing down) and make this your “home by” time for the next day.
Food – Keep weighing out Tashas food ration, remember to add in allowance
for her treats to enable you to do the exercises. Excessive weight will overload
her joints and reduce her ability to move freely.
Stairs – No stair use on her own. Always be with Tasha and look into a stair
gate or block to prevent her from doing so.
