Charlie
6/01/24
Charlie was seen for physiotherapy as an initial assessment. His general posture was slightly downhill
with the croup being higher than the withers. This naturally will put Charlie onto the forehand. Good
body condition and overall demeanour. Shoeing cycle was 2 weeks post fit. Teeth due March.
Gait assessment – A mild pelvic drop on the right hand side. Significant overtracking in walk with
heel first landing both hindlimbs. Forelimbs show mild reduction in stride length. Left hindlimb has
mild “goose step” action possible due to hamstring tightness.
Turning showed good hindlimb proprioception, placement, and foot height. Timing was good. Neck
looked flexible during turning, back showed visible tension.
Palpation –Spinal range of motion reduced in dorsi-flexion due to spasming. Increased tension in
thoracolumbar fascia, last rib, diaphragm and hip flexors, more so right hand side. Mid thoracic
region hypotrophic and hypotonic. Jaw mildly increased in bulk right hand side – due teeth in march.
Gluteals holding pelvis in flexion, extension was initially restricted.
