Katie – Exercise Prescription
30/11/23
Katie was seen due to back pain and following injections into her hocks. In walk there was some
stiffness observed in the hind-limbs, but Katie does track up when prompted into a forward walk.
More pelvic motion would be good once the back tension is resolved. Thickening over the withers
and some heat. Lateral landing on the left forelimb (farrier due). No neck restrictions or joint
restrictions in the forelimbs, protraction stretch lost some balance but enjoyed stretch.
Left shoulder tension. Enjoyed massage here. Right lumbar region was spasming and tense.
Reduced muscle tone overall and reduced hock flexion initially – this improved with letters
exercise. Back range of movement was poor, improved following stretches and so these will be a
crucial part to her rehab.
