Jack– Exercise Prescription
21/08/23
Jack was seen following a change in behaviour. He is reluctant to move forwards. In walk and trot
Jack is seen to move very close with the hindlimbs and will often cross them over. This can be due
to several reasons. When the legs cross trotting is difficult as there is a leg in the way. Jack also has
a splint on his proximal right canon bone. This is causing some mild lameness and will need
walking on hacks to allow it to absorb. Some trotting can be done but short bursts only as it is
uncomfortable for him. The hindlimbs need to be strengthened around the stifles, the right stifle is
sensitive to touch but the left is less mobile and some muscle weakness is present which may be
contributing to the narrow gait.
