Nash– Exercise Prescription
21/8/23
Nash was seen to rehab him back to ridden work while preventing any soreness from hindering
progress. Saddle fitter due day after physio. Put weight on nicely, still requires a little more rib
coverage and work to build topline muscles.
Gait assessment – Nash travelled on two tracks and moved straight. Improved from last gait
assessment and looks more balanced. Still unsure with hindlimbs as sensitive to stony ground. More
stable limb placement and good overtrack.
Palpation –brachiocephalicus showing tension and hypertonicity at the base bilaterally. Serratus
ventralis showing tension drawing shoulders towards to the body more so on the left side. Spinal
range of motion reduced in dorsi-flexion more noticeable over thoracic region – owner reports some
sensitivity in this area when bathing etc. Increased tension in gluteal muscles- improved since last
visit, needs more superficial gluteal now to increase hindlimb enagagement. Back muscles have
improved and there is less sensitivity and pain around rib heads than last visit.
Exercises
Keep up with stretches – more of the nose between knees will improve the area where the saddle
will sit – this is the area Nash currently struggles with. (increase to 10-12 reps)
