07/08/23
Henry was seen for his initial physiotherapy consult todayas a return back into work
following owner spinal injury. Henry has been roughed off and has been back into
work 2 months. Shod infront. Henry can struggle to remain straight when out hacking
and can buck when excited.
Gait assessment –Lateral landing pattern bilaterally in the forelimbs, straight moving
otherwise with marginal hip drop on he right hand side. Narrow base forelimbs and
high stepping gait. Overtracks in walk, in trot the forelimbs have a bilaterally reduced
cranial phase of the stride with an abrupt flight arc. Good neck and spinal flexion on
tight circles. Foot placement was a little intermittent, foot flight was good and
rhythm overall was acceptable on the circles.
Palpation –Released tension along facial crest, poll and narrow tongue space under
mandible. Right base of brachiocephalicus tense and reactive, low tone in nuchal
ligament and over crest. Fascial adhesions left shoulder and trapezius. Serratus
ventralis showing tension drawing shoulders towards to the body on the right. Spinal
range of motion good (hypermobile?) . Hindlimbs overall good symmetry gluteals,
hamstrings hypotrophic. Main aim to improve global musculature and work on
straightness and support.
