William
7/08/23
William was seen for physiotherapy on 7/8/23. This was to assess muscle health following a saddle
which had become uncomfortable and had caused some muscular wastage in the mid-thoracic
portion of Williams back.
Gait assessment –William travelled mainly on two tracks, initially quarters right but straightenend
within 2/3 walks. Left hind-limb showed a medial circumduction which was exacerbated in trot and
shortened the cranial portion of the stride. Good 4 beat walk and 2 beat trot, overtracks well in
paces. Slight pelvic drop right hand side, very mild.
Circles showed good hindlimb proprioception, placement, and foot height. Timing was good. Neck
and back looked flexible during turning.
Palpation –Spinal range of motion reduced in dorsi-flexion. Increased tension in thoracolumbar
fascia and hip flexors. Mid thoracic region hypotrophic and hypotonic. Hypertonic middle gluteal due
to flexed pelvic posture. Left gracilis was hypertonic and restricted hindlimb abduction.
