Khaan– Exercise Prescription
13/06/23
Khaan was seen on the 13/6/23 for a maintenance check and to try to aid with resistive behaviour
when ridden. Khaan settled into physio very well and currently is a good body condition and health.
Gait assessment – Khaan travels straight and is expressive in his movements, currently barefoot
with some flaring of the hooves which may require trimming to prevent uneven loading patterns and
maintain balance. Looks to have increased fetlock drop both front legs which may be
conformational. Travels narrow with the hindlimbs. Overtracks well. Straight landing.
Palpation – Good muscle tone globally, increased tone and bulk of brachiocephalic muscle with a
small tear on the left insertion. Overdeveloped pectorals showing increased forelimb loading making
khan heavy on the forehand. Good tone and bulk of epaxial muscles along the spine, tight band from
tuber coxae to last rib on the left, caudal lumbar longissimus had spasming and trigger pointsa which
were treated with k-tape. Good range of motion in limbs, mild thickening of forelimb tendons (hot
weather) and crepitus on full flexion right carpus.
Mentioned using quality joint supplement such as feedmark best flex or science supplements to
support joint health.
Saddle will need flocking as not in contact right lumbar area and right shoulder has more clearance
than left. Balance and clearance of saddle seems good.

Aim for 3x a week for 30 mins. This will really work the muscles and joints
Joint mobility and muscle building – use trot/canter when not near poles
Lots of figure 8s and serpentines in trot, walk the centre line and trot
