Josie – Exercise Prescription
28/11/22
Josie was seen due to a behavioural change that was potentially due to
her saddle fit and back. On assessment Josie moves straight and her feet
look well balanced and straight. There was some restrictions around her
shoulders at the front, top and back alongside muscle pain and spasming
in the lower back, this was more prevalent on the right side. Several
saddles were assessed and it was found her current saddle was twisting
and too narrow for her spine to give clearance. A larger alternative was
checked and was more suitable but did bounce in the trot. Care to be
taken with unbalanced or larger children riding her as any shift to the
saddle caused a reaction.
Josie does have some conformational challenges as she has a good spinal
width but a short back.
Monitor for any further issues.
2x a week

Maintain and monitor any changes in behaviour or stable manners as this
may indicate that there is still some discomfort in the back or
alternative body region.
