Max- Physiotherapy Notes – 24/7/25
Max was seen for maintenance physiotherapy to aid his mobility. Overall he
is an alert and bright dog who enjoys multiple short walks during the day. His
owner has noticed some weakness in his hindlimbs most notably the right
hindlimb.
Gait: Max has a rhythmical gait with slight exaggerated elevation of the
forelimbs. His right hindlimb has a slight toe scuff which is audible, no excess
wear on his nails on this foot.
Posture: Cranially loading (placing more weight on the forelimbs) and more
onto the left hindlimb too. No neurological deficit. Sit posture is good, will sink
into a lie down quickly if not prompted. Left hindlimb slightly rotated.
Palpation: Right hindlimb hypotonic and hypotrophic Spinal epaxials tender
right thoraco- lumbar region showing trigger points, resolved with manual
therapy and Laser. Caudal boarder latissimus dorsi reactive, spasming and
overworked due to cranial loading. Hip extension limited bilaterally more on
left. Forelimb protraction limited.
Aim: Improve overall balance, muscle strength and protect the opposing
limbs.
