Island
15/10/25
Island has had some behavioural issues that may stem from a difficult
past. He is tense and can be reactive. During the session he settled
well with work done over the front half of him and tended to get more
upset when moving towards his back legs. Work is being done to make him
easier for the farrier and picking up limbs, this is going well. Not
currently in work, Teeth may be due as bulges in temporalis muscle are
seen.
Gait Assessment: In walk there was evidence on a left hind lameness and
overuse of the right hindlimb. The stiffness was seen more on the turn.
Right hand pelvic drop seen in walk. Both hindlimbs struggle uphill.
Straight moving limbs and good foot balance.
Palpation: Braced on left side of the neck and restricted neck bend both
directions, the right pectoral shows some previous muscle tear and
scarring. The left side of the back shows spasming, tension and
restriction in the pelvic mobility. The right side shows this too a
lesser extent.
