Sarah 17-11-22
Sarah presented with reports of stiffness in the hindlimbs when ridden. On assessment Sarah was
showing pelvic restrictions in her left hindlimb with associated lateral circumduction of the limb. The
right hindlimb had increased pelvic excursion due to this reduced flexion in the left hind. Head and
neck assessment revealed nothing of note, thoracic and lumbar spinal flexion was recuded and there
was some muscular weakness in the epaxials in the thoroco-lumbar region. Forelimb flexors on the
left forelimb were hypertonic and spasming. Enlarged check ligament left forelimb no heat present.
Recent history of laminitis bouts. Heart bar with additional supports were on forelimbsMassage and
stretching with trigger point release and myofascial techniques aided release and a better pelvic
movement was observed following treatment.
Some lumbar trigger points and spasming remains but may alter with exercise and management
changes to help build supporting back musculature.
