Cara was seen due to an issue of lameness that was intermittent on Caras front right limb.
She had been for a veterinary consult. Cara has been intermittently lame for a few months
and it is exacerbated on long walks or when playing.
Gait Analysis:
Able to locomote freely around the space
Often will rest right forelimb when stood or sat
Straight and good Proprioception/reflexes
Mild lameness left hindlimb and right forelimb
Weight bearing
Good foot flight of all feet – no scuffing observed
Postural Evaluation:
Nail wear is good, Coat changes over latissimus dorsi suggestive of over exertion of the
forelimbs to locomote. Off loads right forelimb
Muscular Evaluation:
Neck tone was normal, mildly increased reactivity over serratus ventralis and latissimus
dorsi, Spasming and reactive T7-T12. Reduced muscle tone in hindlimbs especially
quadriceps, gracilis and biceps frmoris on the left hindlimb. Range of motion was good in all
joints. Muscle loss over right shoulder.
Points of note: Right elbow showing difficulty and external rotation on a tight circle to the
right, left elbow and shoulder restricted in flexion.
Main points:
Overloading forelimbs
Weaker hindlimb (left)
Restricted left shoulder and elbow
Weaker right shoulder and elbow with associated muscle loss
