Adonis– Notes & Exercise
Prescription
4/6/25
Adonis is still growing. He is starting light work and will be looking next couple of years to
begin his ridden career. Weight is good. No issues noticed. Owned since very young.
Gait assessment – Good overtrack in the walk, good mobility of joints and even strides.
Mildly offloads right hindlimb in walk – seen via fetlock drop being increased on the left. Tail
held slightly left with slight hip drop right. Barrel more noticeable left. Forelimbs move
straight and left forelimb is mildly more medially placed. Hindlimbs are narrow in
placement.
Posture is good, well set on neck and good overall balance, croup hight, slightly cow-hocked
and likes to stand narrow, right forelimb retracted slightly.
Palpation – No issues with jaw, left supra-orbital fat pad is displaced more than right. Left
brachicephalicus reactive and into shoulder (cranial). Caudal right shoulder reactive around
trapezius. Left lumbar trigger points in T-L fascia into gluteal. Ribs inverted in thoracic region
bilaterally. Pelvic extension difficult as pelvis held in flexion and rounded making hindlimb
retraction difficult. Bilateral carpal crepitus. Left forelimb limited in internal rotation
compared to right.
Saddle – Balance is tipped back slightly, doesn’t move or bounce, falls to the right. Bearing
surfaces are good and clearance at the wither is good, narrow on the spine.
