Ted – Exercises and Notes
29/9/25
Recently been found to look lame when lunged by the owner. Owner reports one side looked better
than the other. Been out for the summer, young and starting his career. No known injuries reported.
Unshod. Posture shows a dropped back and still croup high.
Gait assessment – Good overtrack in walk toe in on the forelimbs with some hoof wall flare. Straight
moving, a little base narrow. Obvious pelvic drop on the right hand side in walk, initially resolved
after walking but reappeared soon after. Increased fetlock drop in the hindlimbs, straining the
suspensory apparatus with a stilted and straight hindlimb appearance. Lack of reach in the forelimbs.
Palpation – Neck palpated normal, a small crest but not hard. Globally hypotonic and hypotrophic
which fits current work. Right hand side lumbar back spasming and trigger points. Right hindlimb
resisted retraction. All joints palpated normal, some mild crepitus in the hindlimb fetlock joints.
