Ace - Initial Physiotherapy Assessment
and Exercises

Ace was seen for an initial assessment. His owner reports he is hard to keep straight and to gain
impulsion. Saddle was checked and fits well, in good balance, may need a slight riser pad, not
slipping and good contact on all panels. Weight is good, he enjoyts jumping and is used as an all
rounder.
Gait: Straight moving, very narrow and has a right hand pelvic drop with the tail held to the left,
Quicker moving with the left hindlimb to catch under himself.Same movement pattern seen in trot,
no head nod seen or issues with foot balance. Turning shows right circle was difficult.
Palpation: No issues around head and neck, right shoulder and trapezius muscle was reactive and
tense, girth area was good, lacking muscle from the thoracic junction and over lumbar spine. Right
side was reactive and bilaterally the lumbar region showed big releases with hip holds. Spinal
mobility was good and pelvic mobility was good.
Aim:
Improve impulsion
