Nala – Physiotherapy Initial Consult
12/8/25
Subjective: Nala has previously had her right CrCr Ligament repaired and has previous history of hip
arthritis. Owner reports she is slow on rising and when rested for a while. Nala is a large dog and is
under weight management with food controls in place. Aim to maintain portion control while her
exercise is retricted so that excessive weight does not impact her joint health.
Objective: Cranial loading pattern with increased load also applied to the left hind limb. Altered toe
splaying confirms this on visual inspection. Lifting limbs also confirms this as the default weight
bearing position. Lowered flight arc globally and reduced flexion and extension of the right hindlimb.
Stilted on the circles and restricted in spinal flexion.
Palpation: Head and neck good, Increased shoulder and pectoral tone and mass due to overloading.
Spasming and triggering with bracing in the shoulders and through the back esp on the right lumbar
region. Spinal curve right. Reduced muscle mass right hindlimb. Increased tone left hindlimb. Elbows
bilaterally have reduced flexion by 30%. Right stifle reduced in flexion by 25%.
Aim: Improve balance, reduce strain on the left hindlimb and improve flexibility.
