Okey– Exercise Prescription

Okey is 28 years old and has been used for all-rounder activities. She is not on pain relief but has
boswellia and glucosamine for her joints. Previous history of suspensory damage bilaterally and has
arthritis. Session was booked due to Okey struggling to stabilise herself and overloading the left
hindlimb.
Gait assessment – Straight moving limbs and travel on 2 tracks. Lands laterally right forelimb. Good
balanced feet. Straight tarsal structures due to suspensory damage and subsequent dropping of the
fetlocks. Left forelimb lameness and concurrent hindlimb lameness. At stance overload of the left
hindlimb.
Palpation – Tension around base of brachiocephalic muscles, lacking topline in neck. Hypotonicity
and hypotrophy of shoulder musculature, Spasming and tension lower back lumbar region,
extending into hamstrings and lack of quadriceps in left hindlimb.
