Rocco – Exercise Prescription and Notes
06/8/25
Subjective: Rocco was seen for initial physiotherapy consult. He has been XC jumping since
june with no issues, looks to have scope and ability over fences. Recently this has declined
and he is refusing fences – looks through lack of impulsion. Shoes are due and a little
overgrown, conformation is good with straight legs and good amount of mobility in fetlocks.
Gait: Elevated limbs and short stride, accounting for some welsh breeding. Walk is straight
overall on 2 tracks. His left forelimb was toe in in walk and trot. Lateral hip movement in
trot, could benefit from more flexion and extension of the pelvis, right hand side hip drop
indicating left hindlimb restrictions. Improved after session.
Main palpation findings: Increased tension shoulders and extensors in forelimbs from
increased load bearing. Hypertrophic thoracic epaxials and reactive trigger points and
spasming into lumbar region on the left. Gluteals hypertonic and similarly hamstrings
hypertonic. Hindlimb retraction limited bilaterally in retraction, restricted left hip on
adduction, bilaterally gracilis was over developed and hypertonic. Protraction restricted
bilaterally.
Range of motion: Spinal range of motion attempted but uncomfortable, pelvic extensions
and tucks are resented.
