Re: Ellie – Physiotherapy Notes
1/7/ 2025
Subjective
Ellie is of a good body condition score and is a lean fit horse. She is shod and
feet are well balanced.
Static & Dynamic Observations:
Dynamic assessment not carried out today due to handler absence
Bracing and increased tension over shoulders, more so right
Neck bracing, improved topline since last visit
Good back posture with minimal to no lordosis
Slightly toe out right hindlimb
Palpation Findings:
Restricted neck mobility mid cervical C3-4. Improved from last visit
Poll tension bilaterally
Right pre-scapula restriction
Right girth area/serratus muscle restriction
Left latissimus dorsi reactivity
Bilateral lumbar sensitivity and spasming
Gluteal taught bands bilaterally
Initially restricted pelvic mobility and lift, improved
Restricted right forelimb protraction
Improved hindlimb retraction and protraction – Right hindlimb still
struggling slightly
Left triceps tense
Hoof rotation limited
Gracilis tense right hindlimb
Recommendations:
Big improvements on the last visit, gluteal tension is preventing pelvic
mobility and is causing the right hindlimb to become restricted. The
gracilis muscle is also pulling on this leg making it harder to engage.
Suppling of the poll needed
Good improvements with the hindlimb stretches
