Re: Mango – Physiotherapy Notes
23rd June 2025
Subjective
Mango has been purchased and is currently for sale to a new home. His
previous home consisted of novice owners and as such Mango is still green and
settling into a ridden career. He is broken to ride and requires an initial
physiotherapy assessment. Feet are recently shod – showing damage and
chipping. Weight is 6.5/9.
Static & Dynamic Observations:
Slightly croup high – may indicate more growing or that Mango is built
slightly down hill
Straight forelimb conformation
Fat depositation over shoulders and lumbar region
Sore over very stony and uneven ground
In walk straight moving with all four limbs
Even and level pelvic mobility
Mild under-track bilaterally
In trot, straight moving balanced foot landing
Turning shows good coordination, foot flight, placement and rhythm
through the turn – no neurological tests clinically reasoned
Palpation Findings:
Mild restriction in left metacarpophalangeal joint
Bilateral reduction in hindlimb retraction
Thoracolumbar spasming - mild
Small splint right forelimb no heat or lameness present
Small lesion dorso-medial to left tuber coxae, no pain, heat or swelling
palpated.
Pelvic mobility is good
Neck range of motion is good bilaterally
Recommendations:
Continued farrier intervention to maintain hoof quality and balance
Gradual increase in work to aid cardiovascular fitness and reduce body
condition score
Suppling work once fitter to give more strength and flexibility to the
hindlimbs and build up strength to combat against slight downhill
conformation
