Lottie- Physiotherapy Notes – 3/6/25
Lottie was seen for her initial appointment. She is active and bright in
demeanour. Her weight is very good and diet controls are in place. Area
allowed access too is restricted and is looking to be majority non-slip. No
access to stairs or jumping up to limit spinal extension and risk of
falling/losing back foot contact. Lottie has been on crate rest and is looking
to begin some minor activities to maintain muscle mass and improve
mobility.
Gait: Lottie has a good rhythmical gait with good foot placement 6/10 times
ground clearance front limbs and majority hindlimbs, left hindlimb is weaker.
The right hindlimb on appearance is slightly more defined and placed medial
with the left hind placed laterally in walk.
Posture: Cranially loading (placing more weight on the forelimbs) and more
onto the right hindlimb too. Proprioceptive deficit in place with some motor
deficits too. Left hindlimb delayed knuckling response 5= seconds, right 1
second.
Palpation: Left hindlimb hypotonic and hypotrophic Spinal epaxials tender
right thoraco- lumbar region showing trigger points, resolved with manual
therapy and Laser. Caudal boarder latissimus dorsi reactive, spasming and
overworked due to cranial loading. Range of motion in joints is good with no
crepitus found.
Aim: Improve overall balance, muscle strength and protect the opposing
limbs.
