Hugo
Subjective
Started ridden work and is worked 3x a week. Saddle and tack checked recently and
no issues with that. When ridden can be difficult to bend and has been run to a fence
to stop in the past. Feet trimmed and look balanced overall. Still only 5 and so may
need more muscle building. Better on the surface but can trip.
Gait
In walk on the straight Hugo showed straight head and neck, there was a narrow
forelimb stance and movement with left forelimb showing toe out and landing
laterally. This is wearing the lateral side of the hoof wall and this is also the limb
where there is limited hoof capsule rotation. Initially more pelvic motion in the right
indicating some lameness. Left hindlimb laterally circumducts to avoid flexion.
Objective
Neck lateral flexion right was limited
Back is non reactive and symmetrical
Laceration left hind cranial tarsus
Right hindlimb fetlock – crepitus and cracking initially
