Rosie– Physiotherapy Notes and
Exercises
30-4-25
Subjective: Stifles medicated recently, seemed to struggle on incline work following this and
strangles vaccine. Proior to the strangles seemed to be progressing well. Previously has pattern of
compensation on the right hindlimb to left shoulder consistent with muscular imbalance – Saddle
fitter recently described changes in weight leading to altered saddle. When ridden still feels
imbalanced between hindlimb pushing ability and feeling of “choppy” gait in the forelimbs.
Gait assessment – Good overtrack in walk straight moving with bilaterally lateral circumduction of
forelimbs, today looks to be more noticeable on the right forelimb with a toe in posture. In walk
Rosie moved straight, her pelvis has increased right cranial swing, so not more excursion but more
yaw. The left forelimb looks more balanced today but is offloaded, noticed through audible heavier
landing on right forelimb.
Palpation - Reduced bilateral neck mobility C3 and C4 right hand side. Nuchal ligament showing
tension and bracing. Serratus ventralis showing tension bilaterally and is reactive left shoulder..
Restricted mildly in forelimb protraction and reluctant to drop shoulders forward and down. Spinal
range of motion reduced in dorsi-flexion, with weak thoracic epaxials. Lumbar region hypertonic and
spasming more on the right, this followed more into gluteal. Gluteal mass is improved since last visit
and stifles look more supported through quadriceps. Back dipping and head elevated.
