Oisin– Exercise 18/3/25
Oisin was seen for his initial consult 13/8/24. This is a reassessment following suddenly stopping and
spooking in a lesson. Posture assessment showed tension in the head and neck, heavy on the forehand,
good square stance and extended pelvis. Lost weight since last visit and is muscular and strong.
Gait assessment: In walk, increased pelvic drop right hand side with increased lift left side, reduced flexion
with left hindlimb. Tracks up but intermittent undertrack left hindlimb., heel first landing with hindlimbs
and good ground clearance, reduced forelimb protraction and elevation. Toe out left hind with heavier
landing on left hind. Reluctant in trot, hindlimb movement is stilted on tight turns right, and reduced neck
lateral flexion.
Palpation: Temporalis muscle on forehead buldging slightly indicating jaw tension and restrictions felt in
the jaw. Reduced neck mobility around poll but improved since last visit, vertebrae seem okay. Nuchal
ligament restrictive and “pings” from one side to another. Restricted forelimb protraction Lower back
tension lumbar on right side and gluteal and hip flexor left. Back range of movement is good.
Other: saddle slips right and hindlimb retraction was resented.
Goals:
Mobilise hindlimbs and pelvis
Mobilise the neck
