Rick Physio Notes and Exercises
05/03/25
Rick has improved since my last visit and has put on muscles and looks much fitter. His feet look
good and well balanced and his front legs are more symmetrical. His saddle was checked and there
is uneven flocking between both panels with the saddle also tipping to one side. The left side of
his back is showing tension pattersn and there is a small lump after riding which appears around
T9/10.
Gait: Even pelvic drop when walking away. Straight moving and good rhythm in the walk, Neck
bends fluidly in the turns and there is good amount of tracking up in the walk. Stiffness of the left
hindlimb in the trot and reduced swing – potentially linked to the saddle slip.
Palpation: Ricks pelvic tucks are much improved and there is still some residule tension in the right
side of his back. His neck is more mobile and softer and he seems calmer and less headshy than the
last visit. His forelimbsa are much more symmetrical and the compensations last seen have reduced.
The focus now is on the left hindlimb and getting Rick to be straighter in his movements.
Aim:
Reduce hip tension and stiffness
