Silver
25/2/25
Silver was seen for her follow up on 25/02/25 . Has been quite sharp and unsettling for rider
as weather has been windy etc. Has done lunging and had lunging lesson which will have
been on good benefit.
Gait assessment – Walk: Marginally more pelvic drop to the right hand side. Tail held
straighter today. In walk tracking up was good. Narrow movement in front with lateral
landing on the right forelimb.
Trot:Trotting was fluid and forward. No toe dragging seen today from the hindlimbs, slight
extension of both hindlimb fetlocks – watch and monitor for overload.
Turn: Turning showed good hindlimb proprioception, placement, and foot height. Timing
was good. Neck looked stiff during turning, back showed visible tension.
Lunge: Happy and forward in walk and trot, canter mildly more difficult in the transition.
Right canter shows weakness of the right hind and its ability to push from the ground –
markedly improved from last session
Palpation –Increased tension in thoracolumbar fascia, more on the right hand side. Trigger
points extending into lumbar area. Spine in extension and braced. Supraorbital fat pad
displacement more pronounced on left side. Neck lateral movement poor both directions
but worse right side. C3-5 restricted most. Hygroma on the cranial aspect of the left fetlock.
Also slightly back at the knee on this limb and left hind ergot region. Topline requires work
Spinal range of motion was good following treatment especially lumbar region.
