Kiki Goodwin– Physio & Exercise Prescription
11/2/25
Kiki was seen for maintenance and to attempt to improve her impulsion issues.Kiki is of a
good weight and owners are following good management and soaking hay while Kiki has
been on reduced workload. Saddle fitter in attendance today to discuss forward planning.
Saddle compressed by riders left hip. Swings mildly left and increasing load onto right
shoulder.
Gait: On gait assessment Kiki showed a lateral circumduction of the right forelimb which
was more evident in the trot. The left forelimb looked well balanced and straighter than
previously. Head nod was non-existent today. Left hind toe-drag present but markedly
improved, only seen on the surface in trot. Pelvic movement looked more stable with mild
increased hip hike on the left. Tail straight. Lacked spinal mobility and fluidity in walk and
trot with good stride length. Impuslion from the hindlimbs was markedly reduced bilaterally
and over extension of the hindlimb metatarsophalangeal joints was seen indicating strain.
Palpation : Right side of the neck reduced range of motion and reactive to palpate.
Trapezius muscle reactive both sides worse right side today. Lumbar region showing tension
bilaterally with associated trigger points and spasming. Limited shoulder extension and
protraction bilaterally. Very resistant to thoracic lift and showing limited mobility here.
Pelvic tilts tolerated and mildly limited in flexion. Hindlimb retraction bilaterally was very
difficult and not achieved.
