Bertie West - Physiotherapy Notes
4/2/25
Subjective: Bertie was seen for an initial consult on 4/2/25. He is an active dog and enjoys
his walks and currently is managing 45 mins and occasionally longer walks. Previous
suspicions about left hindlimb patella luxation. Body weight is good.
Straight moving and has good ground clearance of all limbs. Mildly stilted in the forelimbs
and mild rotation of the left hindlimb intermittently when sitting. Nail wear is good with no
scuffing evidenced.
Palpation: Head and neck have symmetrical tone and bulk, neurological exam not
warranted. Increased muscle bulk over forelimbs and reduced/hypotrophic and hypotonic in
the hindlimbs especially biceps femoris. Latissimus dorsi bilaterally was reactive with trigger
points and spasming present. Mildly restricting forelimb protraction. Demarkation in the
coat was seen along stress lines. Mild back pain on palpation with associated trigger points
and spasming around the thoracic junction and rib heads.
Joint range of motion was good in the forelimbs and only area of note in the hindlimbs was
restricted left limb retraction due to increased Sartorius tone and slight crepitus in the
patella area on flexion.
