Marvin – 11/12/24
Initial consult and notes
Subjective: Marvin is a lovely natured friendly dog who was seen following some episodes
of reluctance when jumping agility obstacles. On the videos taken from his owner, Marvin
jumps well and pushes and extends his hindlimbs but is less willing with the left forelimb
when bringing it into a forward stretch over a fence. His preferred turning is to the right and
when landing he is heavy on the shoulders. Some instances Marvin has been hesitant when
jumping down in the car.
Gait is straight and rhythmical in all gaits, mild carpal external rotation on the left forelimb.
Good muscle mass overall and no issues jumping/turning or backing up when observed.
Palpation: Bilateral elbow crepitus on flexion, reduced muscle mass over the left elbow and
shoulder area. Full range of motion present. Thoracic spinal spasming and trigger points –
Laser used to alleviate. Hindlimb retraction was good with both hindlimbs, protraction
limited due to hamstring tension. Right hand side of the spine was reactive over the ribs
more than the left which may contribute to the overloading of the right shoulder.
Aim: Improve joint flexibility and strength, prevent back pain and even up musculature
