Luna Physio Notes and Exercises
21/11/24
Luna was seen 21/11/24 for a follow up physio assessment. Luna has progressed well and some of
the issues from last visit have improved. No issues with saddle fit or tacking up, some napping
behaviour and bucking.
Gait: Even pelvic drop cpmpared to last visit. Good swing to both sides and good rhythm in the walk.
Lacks some impulsion and a little reluctant to trot. When Luna does trot she keeps the hindlimbs
very straight and tips onto her front legs. This needs to be rebalanced.
Right side reduced stifle and tarsal flexion. Slight undertrack right hindlimb.
In trot lateral circumduction both hindlimbs and reduced flexion. Turning both ways showed left to
be more stilted as the timing, strides and foot placement was less than the right turns.
Palpation: Some tension and mild trigger points lumbar region on left side. Still showing weakness
in stifles. Taping and reducing hamstring activation was done both sides. More tension was found on
the right hamstring. Both gluteals were increased in tone so more hip flexion is needed.
Aim:
Reduce back tension and stiffness
Improve hindlimb flexion and strength
Improve hip flexion and flexibility
