Charlie was seen for physiotherapy following referral and investigations with the Vets for suspected
PSSM. Charlie has returned with no positive diagnosis for any disease or injury. There were hotspots
detected in gluteal muscles and biopsy revealed nothing of note.
Gait assessment –Marginally more pelvic drop to the right hand side. Tail head bob with each step
and no toe drag or other abnormatlity seen. Trotting was mildly resented and ears back were seen in
the transition.
Turning showed good hindlimb proprioception, placement, and foot height. Timing was good. Neck
looked flexible during turning, back showed visible tension.
Palpation –Spinal range of motion reduced in dorsi-flexion due to spasming. Increased tension in
thoracolumbar fascia, more on the right hand side. Trigger points extending into hip flexors and
gluteals. Ultrasound used to alleviate. Mild reactivity left trapezuis. Longissimus is losing condition
due to consistent spasming. Spine in extension and braced. Pelvis rounded and flexed. Good
shoulder musculature.TFL restricted left thigh.
