Physiotherapist report – Molly C
26^(th) August 2020
Subjective: Molly is very nervous and tense which made a full assessment
difficult, she became aggressive and so was muzzled, happier when doing
active tasks. Owner reported Molly likes to sit on the windowsill
(slippery), may have fallen.
Gait: Molly had a visible LF lameness and associated head nod.
Hind-limbs moved well and there was some spinal laterality to the left
and loaded LH more.
Objective: Multiple trigger points and spasming bilaterally Triceps,
Latissimus dorsi and pectorals. Bilateral spasming down epaxials
musculature with kyphosis, Left forelimb displayed hypotrophy and
hypotonicity consistent with under use. Some heat was palpated over left
shoulder but no swelling was noted. Molly sits with the hindlimbs
abducted and contributes to poor spinal posture.
Range of motion: Active range of motion was assessed through “paw”
exercise, Molly was reluctant to fully extend both forelimbs (tension
and muscular restriction is a possibility). Will require additional
assessment at a later date. No crepitus or obvious issues palpated.
Action: LASER, and PMFT used active range and stretches were done with
caution.
- Spinal range of motion stretches
- Amend sit posture
- Carpet high traffic areas
