Barbara– Exercises and Physio Notes

Barbara was seen 19/9/24 for initial physiotherapy session after a period of lameness and
steroid injection to aim to resolve the pain. Diagnosis given is annular ligament injury to
the left forelimb.
Gait: Hip hiked to the right and dropping on the left, laterally shows flight arc is dimished
early and abruptly with the right hindlimb and mildly with the left. In trot this is more
noticeable. Pelvis is held in flexion and rounded into gluteals. Turns show good neck
mobility, turning right is good, left shows forelimb reluctance to move and changes to
rhythm and foot flight. Toe in RF Mild.
Palpation: Scar left hindlimb insertion of semitendinosus, tense and hypertonic right
hamstring. Low tone globally, decreased weight bearing in stance on left forelimb, Right side
of the body, shoulder (trapezius, serratus, lat dorsi) hypertonic, longissius braced and
reactive right hand side. Some swelling over suspensory left forelimb, no heat.
