Rupert was seen for his initial assessment after the owner noticed some
lameness in his hindlimbs. Rupert was having episodes of turning in on
the lunge and is also looked stilted when rising.
Posture showed Rupert has tension around his jaw and neck, upright
shoulder position and a high wither leading into a braced and dipped
back. His hind-limbs were mainly off-set and rarely square with a
preference for the left hind to reach under the body.
Gait assessment showed a right side pelvic drop with a left hind toe
drag noticeable in trot with shortening of the cranial flight phase.
Reduced flexion in the left stifle and tarsal joint and on the lunge the
left patella rotates externally during locomotion. Canter showed a
stilted back and there was some difficulty engaging in the trot.
