Olive- Physiotherapy
17/09/24
Olive was seen 17/09/24 for physiotherapy assessment following cruciate
repair on the left hind-limb.
Gait assessment shows toe-touching with the left hindlimb and a marked
limp visible in walk. Olive is able to sit, lie and stand unaided and
stands well balanced with attempts to utilise the limb.
On palpation there is some lower lumbar spasming due to the lateral
curve produced by off-loading the left hindlimb. Some shoulder bracing
but not of concern at this stage. Wound healing well with healthy tissue
present and minimal swelling. No tenderness or heat.
Sitting: Straight sit posture, mild lateral position of left hindlimb on
rising mildly unsteady but attempts well.
Aim to walk 5-10 minutes per day on repeatable surface (pavement) unless
toe scuffing occurs or limping is exacerbated. In which case limit to 5
minutes.
Heat to be applied to lower back every other day 10 minutes, if swelling
or pain occurs in left hindlimb, use ice on there 5 minutes.
