Ella- Physiotherapy Notes
16/09/24
Ella was seen for her follow-up appointment today and has grown in stature, her weight is good only
increasing 4kg mass. Quality food ration given. Her stand posture is much straighter and her weight
bearing between forelimbs is much improved. Muscle mass has improved over shoulders and trunk.
Shoulders show less strain from loading as previously seen.
Left hindlimb still preferred hindlimb for locomotion and bracing but this is becoming more even
with the right hindlimb.
Right hindlimb shown hypertonicity of the gracilis muscle on the medial thigh and decreased
tonicity laterally. Right hindlimb protraction and retraction was guarded. Elbow flexion was resented
mildly.
Functional tests: Sit posture - able to sit square majority of cases. Rising from the sit
Much improved and slight toe movement on full stand but markedly better. Lie to stand was
more unstable but set to work on. Turning left was good, hindlimb under midline and rhythm good.
Turning right showed a lack of hindlimb stability but intermittently, pelvis was more stable.
Aim: Improve muscle tone, balance and support the joints. Take weight from the
shoulders and slowly increase onto hindlimbs
