Re: Alfie (Whippet)
10/9/24
Alfie was referred following a puncture wound and injury to his shoulder and back pain found when
he went to visit his local veterinarian.
Subjective: Alfie settled very well again and preferred his right side to be touched while mildly
guarding the left side. His walks are 1-2 hours on lead for the most part and some off-lead sniffing if
quiet. Alfie seems to be travelling well up and downhill – now to test the downhill portion of walking
during the end of the walk for fatigue levels.
Gait: No obvious limping or deviations observed, no rotation of the carpus is seen on the visit today
so no need for any bracing or supports here. Weight bearing is much improved, in stance some mild
tremmorring of the left shoulder.
Palpation – Left shoulder spasming. Bileteral shoulder tension around trapezius and lat. Dorsi..
Elicited spasming on the lateral shoulder. Left lumbar region of the back spasming but improved
from last visit. Hip and hindlimb mobility is looking back to normal range.
