Re: Ms Tracy Owen (Walter)
Subjective: Walter was seen for physiotherapy to address a base wide gait in his hindlimbs. Walter
has recently lost another family pet and so is reported as not usual behaviour. Struggles to sleep
fully during the day and so can be tired. Behaviourist also involved and sets homework for Walter.
Walking well and no adverse reactions after longer walks.
Objective: Musculature in hindlimbs has become more symmetrical. Limited Hindlimb ROM in
protraction due to muscle tension in semimembranosus and semitendinosus – improved since last
session, lumbar tension prevents hip retraction and abduction is used instead. Some straining on
rising seen as stooped posture.
Aims to increase hip angle by raised paw exercise, improve impulsion by sit to stands (ensuring hand
position is low and forwards at chest height to prevent cue for lie or sit) and weaving again to
address abduction of legs.
Overall Assessment: Wide stance and limited hip mobility.
Sit to stands, figure 8, forelimbs raised on sofa to open hips.
