Milo was seen for an initial consult on the 27/8/24. He is currently on
pain medication and is bright alert and happy. Currently on 20 min walks
2x a day and coping well. Diet is good and weight is good. No
lumps/bumps noted.
Reduction on muscle mass was seen globally in the limbs. Muscle bulk was
present but decreased muscular activity and tone. Restricted shoulder
posture was seen in both limbs drawing the forelimbs back and pushing
the chest forwards. Right carpal valgus present which also showed
crepitus on manipulation, the left also showed crepitus but milder.
Forelimb protraction was resisted mildly in right forelimb – advised
stretches.
Mild spasming in lumber region of the back both sides, more so on the
left.When sitting the left hindlimb was also abducted and the right
hindlimb off-loaded from the sit to stand transition. Mild crepitus in
tarsal joints and plantigrade stance bilaterally with back feet,
increased tone in gastrocnemius. Stifle and hip instability on
functional testing but coped very well with exercises
Points of note
- Keep walking 20 mins 2x day (increase in line with calendar activity)
- Continue to weight food out and reduce if needed to include treat
ration
- Reassess in 6 weeks
