Oisin– Exercise Prescription13/8/24
Oisin was seen for his initial consult 13/8/24. Posture assessment showed tension in the head and neck,
heavy on the forehand, good square stance and extended pelvis. Some swelling left forelimb was seen (due
to splint and being stood in all day).
Gait assessment: In walk, increased pelvic drop right hand side, reduced flexion with left hindlimb. Tracks
up and reguilarly overtracks, heel first landing with hindlimbs and good ground clearance, reduced
forelimb protraction and elevation. Toe-in right fore. Head tilted nose right, poll left. Reluctant in trot,
hindlimb movement is stilted on tight turns and reduced neck lateral flexion.
Palpation: Temporalis muscle on forehead bulding slightly indicating jaw tension and restrictions felt in the
jaw, sensitive over TMJ left hand side. Reduced neck mobility around poll, vertebrae seem okay. Nuchal
ligament restrictive and “pings” from one side to another. Restricted forelimb protraction esp left forelimb.
Lower back tension. Back range of movement is good.
Other: saddle slips right, flocking feels deflated and saddle balance is tipping the rider back. Bridle buckles
pressing on TMJ.
Goals:
Strengthen hindimbs to improve flexion
Mobilise the neck/poll
Stretch shoulders and lighten forehand
