Re: Ms Tracy Owen (Walter)
Subjective: Walter was seen for physiotherapy to address a base wide gait in his hindlimbs and to
begin physiotherapy assessments. He was an overseas rescue with limited background. Recent hip
radiographs completed showing no issues. Walter does show a lateral movement of his hindlimbs at
faster gaits, in particular the right hindlimb which is observed to be weaker. Walter is a nervous but
happy dog who has built up good body condition and muscle mass.
Objective: Sit posture was splayed, now largely improved into straight posture, limited back ROM
and hip extension due to muscular tension – improving each session. Right hindlimb weaker. Left
lumbar spine showed restrictions and Trigger Points. Spasming and fasciciualtions present. Limited
Hindlimb ROM in protraction due to muscle tension in semimembranosus and semitendinosus.
No crepitus or joint restrictions palpated. Hypotrophy of gluteal and biceps femoris.
Overall Assessment: Wide stance with muscle asymmetry, aims are to build muscle and prevent
compensatory back muscles from fatigue.
Sit to stands on platform, figure 8 and stretches HL ROM prescribed.
Kindest Regards
