Clara– Exercise Prescription
17/7/24
Clara was seen 17-7-24 for an initial consultation after a suspected
strain in the groin. Claras posture showed extended pelvis posture and
straight hindlimb conformation with upright feet. In walk there was a
noticeable right sided pelvic tuber coxae drop with contact of the left
hindlimb. In trot there looked to be slight unbalanced movement of the
head but not correlating with any noticeable lameness. The left hindlimb
was externally rotated and toe out with an external rotation of the
calcaneus on weight bearing.
On the lunge the left canter was rushed and unbalanced, to the right it
was slightly more improved but broke into trot and during trot
transition a right hindlimb lameness was seen for 2-3 strides. Toe drag
both hindlimbs on the surface with lack of hindlimb flexion/engagement.
Lumbar tension bilaterally, more so on left side.
Reactive hamstrings.
Saddle slips right, loses contact left side and may require additional
flocking/air.
Goals:
- Engage pelvic tuck
- Prevent back pain
- Improve front-back balance
- Address left hind toe-out/rotation
