Misty- Physiotherapy Notes
8/07/24
Misty was bought August and is 7. She was green and relatively new to
schooling/jumping etc. Her feet are well balanced, good weight and
recently seen a nutritionist. Misty has a previous injury of a splint on
her left-hind canon. No heat was present. She also has a small
superficial scar over the cranial aspect of her right hind fetlock.
Recently fell at camp and comes out mildly lame but resolved after a few
steps.
Gait assessment shows intermittent and very mild head nod showing
discomfort left forelimb. On palpation biceps brachii and superficial
and deep pectorals were tight and reactive. Thoracic sling was over used
and sore. Brachiocephalicus in the neck was over developed and topline
was weak. Spinal range of motion was good in all planes.
Aim: Improve topline and muscle building – needs to work on overall
balance as she is a big horse and requires support in transitions and
flatwork building up to jumping slowly.
