Ruby– Exercise Prescription
8 /07/24
Ruby was seen for routine physiotherapy to check her back before a
saddle fitting. She has been ridden bareback and is reported to be
struggling downhill.
On gait assessment Ruby looked foot-sore that switched between her
forelimbs and her right forelimb took a smaller stride than the left. On
palpation the left forelimb showed tension in her base of neck and
thoracic trapezius – the right was the same but to much lesser extent.
Forelimb range of motion was good, joint felt good. Picking up limbs is
difficult at times. Forelimb stretching aided shoulder tension –
exacerbated when saddle appeared, visible tension and spasming around
caudal shoulder.
There was mild lower back spasming and trigger points but these were
mild.
Saddle assessed and shoulders looked to not be in full contact with
saddle panels, left side good and spinal clearance good, right hand side
not in contact mid panel.
Aims: Improve shoulder mobility
