Stanley – Exercise Prescription
4/07/24
Stanley was seen for his initial physio assessment on the 4/7/24. He has recently had a bout of
laminitis and was booked in to have a check and aid movement.
On gait assessment Stanley was forward and willing in walk, he is slightly toe in on the right
forelimb. Foot balance looks good and no cracks or defects seen on the hoof wall. His left hindlimb
moves laterally in flight and lands making Stanley move on 3 tracks – this was resolved once
restrictions in the left TFL were resolved. He undertracked ½ hoof length with the left hindlimb,
again attributed to muscle tightness in his hamstring. His gluteal muscles were also restrictive and
pulling hips into flexion and limiting extension.
Increased neck musculature and stiffness especially on the turns and tight circles. He was pivoting
on the hindlimbs and worse on the right rein. Sternal lifts were limited and so were lateral
bending.
Overall aim is to increase flexibility in the restricted hips, neck and back and aid joint health and
movement for the future.
