Wally taylor - Physiotherapy
13/06/24
Wally was seen for an initial physiotherapy consult on 13/6/24 following reporting of a right forelimb
intermittent lameness. He is currently on Metacamand is doing 15 mins on-lead walking per day.
Owner reports difficulty getting into car. History of interdigital cysts/callous.
On examination Wally was bright and alert with good coat and weight. Reduction on muscle mass
was seen globally in the limbs. His right elbow showed preference for a valgus position and made
audible click on full flexion only. Range of motion was not impacted. The left elbow was normal. The
left gracilis muscle was over developed and there was a preference for weight-bearing on the left
hindlimb. When sitting the left hindlimb was also abducted and the right hindlimb off-loaded from
the sit to stand transition.
Mild hip restrictions were seen in the right hip on extension.
Points of note
Keep walking 15 mins on-lead per day (increase in line with calendar activity)
Continue to weight food out and reduce if needed to include treat ration
Monitor rough skin on pad for cutting opposing digits
Discuss with Veterinarian if metacam would be beneficial while controlled exercises are
being carried out to increase muscle mass/strength
Reassess in 6-8 weeks
