Tasha – Exercise Prescription
29/5/24
Tasha was seen 29/05/24 for her maintenance session. On gait assessment
Tasha is moving more freely and no lameness was seen in her forelimbs.
There is still visible and measured muscle mass difference in her
hindlimbs. This will take another few months to increase with using the
tailored exercises. Back pain and tension will be observed due to
spondylosis diagnosis but was mild today. Right hindlimb hip extension
was resisted and right hip flexors are shortened.
Points Discussed
Calendar –Keep up with the calendar, remember to be home by the time any
scuffing of toes appears as this indicates fatigue.
Kerbs – Use kerbs to watch for hindlegs stepping up and onto the kerb,
is it the same foot each time ? does the natural rhythm of the walk
change (get too fast or too slow?). Aim for 10x up and down kerbs.
Weather –As we get damp or colder days, Tasha may struggle with the
damp. Use the heat packs 10 minutes a day if you suspect stiffness. If
there is an acute flare up or sudden limp/swelling or pain then cold
compress is best.
