Monty– Exercise Prescription
11/4/24
Monty was seen following nail bind and lameness in his hindquarters. Owner showed a video where
Monty rolled and struggled to stand and propel with hindquarters. Had previous injury to gum and
mouth, may have tied in with previous findings.
Gait assessment – Monty is much straighter in walk, mild tenderness in RF where nail bind
occurred, but improved from owners report, was base narrow behind with slightly toe in
conformation. There was reduced pelvic movement in the walk and minimal fetlock drop in both
hind-limbs indicating stiffness. Right hindlimb undertracked 2 hoof lengths and had minimal stifle
and hock flexion. At terminal flight phase medial movement of RH was seen. LH placed medially in
stance to act as a tri-pod base. Vertical pelvic drop as LH impact suggesting RH lameness. Squaring of
the toe seen RH
Palpation –Protraction in forelimbs good, mild triceps tension. Slightly braced and hypertonicity of
brachiocephalicus. Lumbar region reactive bilaterally, improved LHS. RHS more reactive. Pelvic
motion limited in flexion, extension and lateral mobility. Right gracilis hypertonic.
