Oliver– Exercise Prescription
11/03/24
Oliver is a young horse who is looking to do all round activities. He is
in good body condition- we are working on his topline and condition and
posture. Green lines below are ideal limb posture, Oliver is behind the
vertical with his forelimbs and camped under on the hindlimbs, this is
placing stress onto his heels.
Gait assessment – Straight moving limbs and travel on 2 tracks. Right
forelimb is toe out and lands laterally. Improved from last visit, mild
right fore lameness shown via a head nod present. This may be due to
neck bracing and tension but on palpation this was mild today. Both
hindlimbs are toe out Rocks back onto heels and shows very low heels.
Tracks up well. Turns are good with good foot flight, placement and
timing. Neck looked bracing on turns today.
Palpation – Tension around base of brachiocephalic muscles – big
improvement from last visit, Clean limbs and good joint range of motion.
Spasming and tension lower back lumbar region. REleived easier with
massage today Camped under behind and struggles to stand square.
